A Talent Show Party!

February 16, 2011

Our Talent show parties are lots of fun.

This type of party is  great for eight year olds and up, although some younger kids might also enjoy this theme.

The girls can pretend play their favorite instrument, sing karaoke or act a small part promoting a product. They get to choose!

Girls can have a glamour session of hair and make-up before going on stage.

You can choose to have a custom Hippojoy stage with red carpet and lights for the show. This one was used at a performing night at a school.

Check out this oscar night hot dogs. They fit perfectly at a Talent show party. You can give small oscar statues for prizes to all the participants.

Our character host, will sure make everyone participate.

Natalia is here displaying her musical talent. We will bring a variety of instruments that will make the kids sound like pros. Guitars, piano’s and drums!

It is a good idea to let hippojoy play and rehearse for the talent show. Did I tell you that they also get a red carpet interview?

Invite moms and dads to come at the end of the party to enjoy their children’s talents. Both parents and children love that!  Don’t forget to put this on the invitation. For example:

Parents are welcome but not required to stay, but we don’t want you to miss the grand talent show at (time).

Don’t forget your camera!

Ari Dreyer at her party.  She is a talented ballet dancer and  performer.

The shy performers can act in duos or trios, but can also act with the character guest, who will change accordingly to fit the script.

In the picture, some girls all dressed up, playing at our custom talent show backdrop. Some talented actors and actresses may take their parts very seriously!  They can get really exhausted, so we recommend snacks and beverages at the party, and lots of water.

Our parties are always learning experiences and there is nothing more wonderful that allowing your children express themselves through music, acting or dancing. You might be surprised, like I was when I saw this two kids performing for a talent show. Watch…

And check out these pair. They call themselves: Future Funk! Absolutely adorable.

Cinderella’s Carriage, Best Cakes

January 29, 2011

I was preparing for a Cinderella Themed Party where our Princess Valentine will have a special appearance.

Decoration is looking beautiful but I was researching the Web for some Cinderella Cake carriage ideas. There are so many creative bakers out there, that my daughter and I started to rate them. This is the result for ” The Best Cinderella Carriage Cakes”  They are not in any specific order

I found it at Jane Asher. It serves 40-45 small portions, and comes with the cutest fondant mouse on one side.

Here’s another wonderful Cinderella Carriage Birthday Cake.  This was made by Tracy’s Best Cakes

Feather Centerpieces

January 29, 2011

If you want to celebrate your event with style and glam. Feather Centerpieces might be the way to go. If budget is a concern, you might want to think twice though because they can be costly. They come in different sizes, colors and most important: quality.

We have chosen to have one quality: the best. This is because the texture and size of the feathers, if using female ostrich feathers (drabs) is different.

Elegant centerpieces made of beautiful ostrich feathers will create a gorgeous table display for any event.  WOW your guests with a beautiful display of ostrich plumes. Ostrich plumes are very exquisite and come from the wing of the male bird. They span from 18-22” and are fuller than the drabs.

When combined with led lights, the result is simply stunning!

We recommend ostrich feather Centerpieces for elegant occasions like Weddings, anniversaries and Sweet Sixteens. Call us for your next happy occasion. We will be very happy to assist you with ideas.

Fun Science and learning

December 20, 2010

Science will always be fun if it is taught by Dr. Funzo. He fuels children’s imagination with interactive, age appropriate  and hands-on experiences.

Here, he is accompanied by a happy b’day  young scientist, his family and Peep, a Planetarian friend who has come in peace to planet earth.

Dr. Funzo and Peep make children laugh, and awe with their science show. Children can learn about the properties of air, magnetism, bubbleology, make instant snow and more…

Dr. Franklin, Ulises, Nicholas, Zachariah Oliver, or as his friends call him: Dr. FUNZO, is an experimented scientist and astrologist whose travels in time and space have taught him many science lessons, properties of matter and even made interesting, out of this world  friendships.

Dr. Funzo may come  by himself or with an assistant. We have a variety of versions and experiments to show, depending on your child’s interests and age group.

He will also be visiting a variety of science conventions in Tradeshows, middle schools and elementary schools.

Cupcake and Pirate Charm

December 19, 2010

We are so happy to introduce to you our new team character hosts: Princess Cupcake and Pirate Charm.

Princess Cupcake is a beautiful princess from a far, far, far away land. She was about to get married to a horrible, terrible, despicable man, when she falls madly in love with a peasent. She did not know the peasant was in reality a pirate who helped the people from the village that where held prisoners by the evil future king….

Our characters were inspired by Robin Hood, Zorro and the Princess Bride.  The film, the Princess Bride,  is an enactment of the following story read by a sick boy’s grandfather (Falk) as the boy (Savage) sits in bed listening, framed and occasionally interrupted by scenes of the reading.
A beautiful young woman named Buttercup (Wright) lives on a farm in the fictional country of Florin.
Whenever she orders the farmhand Westley (Elwes) to do chores for her, he complies and answers “As you wish.”
Eventually she realizes he loves her and admits her love for him.  Watch a trailer of the movie from the 80’s:

Handsome Pirate Charm plays games with the kids. We can even recreate a fun jail where they are brought in. To get out, they have to either be rescued by friends, comply to a princess wish or perform a task for Pirate Charm.

Children will love to perform and play a variety of games at your next party.

A long chat with a Princess….

December 18, 2010

Very few times does a girl have the opportunity to have a one to one chat with a Real Princess…..

So if you are in town visiting and want to avoid the huge lines at Disney, but still want your son or daughter to have a one to one chat with a Real Princess, just let us  know and our Sweet Princess Valentine will go to a Restaurant, Park or Hotel Lobby and meet with the family to have breakfast and chat. Our Prince Charming, musketeers, fairies or pirates are also interested in meeting with the family.

If you are having a Party for your child, let us know if you would like the Birthday girl to  spend a little more time talking to Princess Valentine, we will gladly incorporate it to the party script.

We have found girls have the most interesting questions they want to ask princesses. And our Sweet Princess Valentine is all ears.

For example, kids are surprised to know that a Princess Job is not always easy, that they too can be uncomfortable around friends at times, how you can get the positive out of every situation…. etiquette, fashion, hair styling……well, so much to talk about, so little time.

She brought it wrapped up on a heart shaped tin box.  A Special gift for a very special princess.

The princesses and knights were all having dinner at their beautifully decorated table….

Individual place cards greeted princess Azia’s guests..

Perfect sized tables, chairs, plates, tea cups, and glassware. The perfect meal, the perfect ball when they were suddenly interrupted…

In comes a doncella with a valiant musketeer. “I must speak with princess Azia at once!” he demanded while she inspected the place to make sure it was appropriate for Princess Valentine.

Something was missing, a golden magic mirror with pigeons on top for the princesses to sing while they watched their Royal transformation.

Unforgettable Snow White!

July 13, 2010

“Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs is a 1937 american animated film based on Snow White, a fairy tale by the Brothers Grimm. It was also the first full-length cel-animated feature in motion picture history, as well as the first animated feature film produced in America, the first produced in full color, the first to be produced by Walt Disney and the first in the Walt Disney Animated Classics canon”. (Information from Wikipedia)

I remember when I first saw Disney’s Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs on the big screen, I think I was six or  seven years old, but I couldn’t get over the fact that even though it was an animated movie, the  water teardrops falling in the well and making  small circular effects looked so real!  “How can they do that?”  I asked my mom.

There is something else that never seizes to amaze me though, in fact, it inspires me: children’s imagination and their ability to transform the simple into extraordinary!  They are so curious and so creative…

All children are special and have their very own talents.  Ariel,(in the picture posing at her Snow White Party) stole my heart from the minute I met her at ballet lessons back in my country of origin, El Salvador.

She is an incredible dancer and gets so much into character when she performs that surprises children and adults alike. So when her mom sent me this picture of her wearing her Snow White Costume,  I got so inspired that I wrote and wrote and developed our “Snow White-Theater” script party. It is awesome, and we have two versions, one for beginners and one for advanced performers like Ariel. I promise I will squeeze in a few ideas from the script in the article.

For our Theatre Party Scripts, write us a note or e-mail us. You can purchase the Script with easy to follow instructions for your party or go all the way inviting us there with a couple of character Hosts who not only direct but are part of the scenes too. We have our Snow White, Prince Charming and Magical Witches.  Theatre Parties are sooo much fun and so is a make-up session and dress up!

No Snow White Party would be complete, without two things: A Mirror, mirror on the wall, saying “Who is the Fairest   of them all! and a Wishing Well, like this one we rent made out of cardboard, but with a string and pale girls can either   pull out their part from the script and find out what character they will play. If you are not into theatre parties,        have your guests fish out of the well nice fortune wishes like the ones you can find in fortune cookies. It is also a nice item to use to pick  prizes randomly.

For this party we decorate with paper flowers and lanterns. (check out pics from Alice in Wonderland Party in this blog).  We can also make the forest animals out of foam. At theatre parties our super cute forest animal masks are made of fabric. (These roles are played by the smallest guests ).

I love the outdoors for this party but in case the Weather is not cooperative enough or you would rather have it  inside, check out this awesome magical backdrop that you can find at digitalblasphemy.com

This beautiful backdrop, the wishing well, fake trees and forest animals, totally set the mood at an indoor party,  don’t you agree?

Now, another fun game….Do you remember this scene from Snow White and the Seven dwarfs?

For this game, we recreate the cave. Kids get a chance to sing, dance and pick hidden treasures from the cave!

For treasures,  ring pops, chocolate coins, rings with huge precious stones. Now when our guest-dwarfs go back home…(to their sitting places..) Ohhhh no! Princess Ariel White is gone. What to do?  Where to look? Any ideas?

Now, if you have a girl that loves to perform like Ariel, (Birthday girll/star of the show) and several kids playing forest animals and

dwarfs, the best way to go is to invite the Medieval/Evil queen as a character host.

Our Host acts as the queen but also directs the kids when she grins ACTION!

You can also invite her to your party, even if it is not a theatre party, she will read the story and add funny comments from her own perspective!

Now for the cake, Check out this beautiful creation by Lineth Cakes,

we are very fortunate to work with her at our parties. She is so professional and

creative and will go along with any of your ideas and add or enhance them, all

the time. And we can get very creative at times….

To check more of her creations visit her facebook page lineth’cake’s

Another food item that you should not leave out at your little girl’s Snow White Party is apples. Make a game where girls pick apples from a small swimming pool using their mouth only or if you want to avoid the splashes … make caramel apples.

I really hope you enjoy this party as much as I have enjoyed writing this article. Thank you Ariel and Gabi for the inspiration and for sharing your picture with us. I love you and wish you the best in your ballet carreer.

As for Hosts, we have Snow White, Prince Charming  and Medieval/evil. We can also help you with decoration and planning your next Snow White Party. Check out our original version of Snow White at a party:
