Super Chic Spa Party

April 2, 2012

The use of the French très chic (very chic) by an english speaker would generally mean elegant, beautiful,  and it is specially associated with stylishness.

So what else could these two beautiful twins have for their birthday party? The answer:   A très chic spa party,   with Hippojoy.

Introducing Marina & Gabriella, two sparkly and adorable twins…. One is totally into pink, the other one would rather have a calm setting and loves lime-green. Perfect combination…voila!

This is a party were a photographer is a must. Marina and Gabriella were fortunate to have deLima photography at their party. Thank you for allowing us to use your beautiful and professional pics, great work.

The setting was in pink, fucsia and lime green. We had stations so the girls would be pampered every step of the way.

They were greeted with a sparkly beverage by Miss Roxanne, who flew directly from France with her associate Maggie. They own a luxurious Spa in France you see, the Spa were Monsieur Beaveerrr and his girl friend, beautiful Selena go for some beauty rest. Madamme Roxanne, has a heavy frenchy accent but is great to be around with.  She has great beauty tips for every girl…

A little toast for the Birthday girl were they shared their wishes for them and said beautiful things about the twins.  We taught the girls the importance of walking with confidence, inner beauty and how a happy smile can conquer a lot! I am not sure if it was what we have told them or the fun they were having but smiles were everywhere.

The girls had beauty masks, a relaxing massage, make up and manicures.

I will post more pictures and talk a little bit more about menu and other great ideas for the Spa theme.

If you want to contact us for your next Spa event for your girl or any other event, please do so at…

Phineas and Ferb… and Perry the Platypus Party

August 31, 2010

I know what we are going to do today…..

Let’s celebrate Phineas and Ferb style!! With creativity.

Twists for this party?   Plenty!

We have had boys telling us they want a Perry the Platypus Party and girls saying they want a Candance  celebration, based on the episode squirrel in my pants, even a boy wanting a Dr. Doofenshmirtz’s schemes celebration! There is no limit to what we can do for this party and we strongly suggest you bring your birthday child to the consultation process because children, most of the time can tell us by themselves what would be a hit at their party.  Mom and dads go for the general theme so here are some great ideas, styles, cakes and fun for a Birthday party based on any or every character of this fabulous cartoon you can see in Disney Channel.

The Dr. Doofenshmirtz’s Scheme and Invention Party theme is great.  And so is the story that gave life to our party theme.

In comes this mom to the consultation almost apologizing for bringing in his six year old (who happened to be the birthday boy). Sebastian was vivacious and could not stop moving with excitement;  he wanted to see the centerpieces we were working on, he asked tons of questions, he wanted to know why I was making a big tea cup with flowers when tea cups are for drinking milk, or tea or coffee…

“Is that your new invention?”  he asked me.

“Yes” , I replied proudly. It is my new invention.”

“So you are like Dr. Doofenshmirtz too? ” he asked.  “I like Dr. Doofenshmirtz, but no one understands him”,  he said in a soft voice.

Meanwhile, his mom spoke to my business partner,  Nancy,  about a Phineas and Ferb cake…..

“Wait a minute!”  I interrupted,  “I know what we are going to do this time…. A Doofenshmirtz’s scheme and invention session!”

So we decided that the character that should visit Sebastian’s party would be an old friend of Doofenshmirtz’s, Dr. Funzo and he would help the children create a gigantic Box-Robot for themselves. We would have a game with the children and their robot costumes, create our own scheme. How much fun, this craft project really works!  The children had lots of creativity. Here are some cute examples of what the Doofenshmirtz’s robots can look like:

You can go as simple or as complicated as you wish. It doesn’t matter! It is what our character tells them to do and how we build their imagination what really counts.  This is a great recycling project too.

Check out our new video for Dr. Funzo:

Ariella, on the other hand, wanted an “I want everything that has to do with Phineas and Ferb party”.  She is also an amazing dancer, and even got to do a Hip Hop performance at her own party.  She wanted a Perry the Platypus Piñata too!

This is a cute picture sent by her parents with the Perry-piñata and below she is dancing some Hip-Hop.  Have you ever danced/played the game squirrel on my pants?

Now, of course, we must not forget Perry!

We are currently preparing an Agent P party! It will be totally awesome. For this one, I will just give you a small hint because I bet some of the guests to this party are already reading this blog!

A HA! Gottcha!  Sorry, we just don’t want to ruin the surprise for you at Diego’s Bday.  Just a hint: we all get to be detectives! Each one chooses a letter so we will have Agent F, Agent C, Agent D and an unsuspected, unexpected and totally unaware guest will be a part of these curious investigators. Of course they will be wearing…

This beautiful Perry T-shirts!

CAKES?

Check out this cute ideas…

This first one was created by Simply Homemade Cakes

Assorted cookies and Perry the Platypus cake by cake central.

I want you to check out this wonderful idea by a very creative dad who took an episode in his own hands and built an inaction Perry, the toy who does nothing!  Here I post his own words to describe it…

Perry the Platypus Inaction Figure is a wooden toy that is modelled after Perry (Disney cartoon characters – Phineas and Ferb’s pet platypus).
In the episode
Toy to the World, Phineas and Ferb design a toy “so stupidly simple, so basically bland, so idiotically uncomplicated, that it can do absolutely anything.”
For my son’s 6th birthday party we all made Inaction Figures, it was a lot of fun!!

To check out his step by step guide to make your own Perry Inaction Figure, go to…http://www.instructables.com/id/How-to-Build-a-Perry-the-Platypus-Inaction-Figure/

Who doesn’t love this amazing characters capable of doing anything and willing to do everything to have fun. To be honest,  I can totally understand them, and fully relate to them!

Planning a World Cup Final Playoff Party

July 10, 2010

And its a Goooaaal!! or in Spanish, la mete y es un Goooooooooool!!!

For the past month the world has been focused on the 2010 World Cup Tournament in South Africa. It is a great opportunity for friends to gather together and watch the game. Besides the excitement of the game itself it has been fun to watch fans from all over the world supporting their favorite team and dressed up so creatively and fun!

South Africans welcomed football/soccer fans to their country to the first World Cup to be held on the continent and the sound of the vuvuzela horns has sure become a trademark of this 2010 event.  On Sunday , the final game is here and it will be played between Spain and the Netherlands.

No matter what team you will cheer for, this is a great time to have a fun with family, friends, and have a “World Cup Final Playoff Party” so here I post some ideas for you to prepare for Sunday!

Ask your friends to come dressed up ready to cheer, it is really fun to have guys from opposite teams!  Make a huge poster with rules against violence between both sides, make it funny and personalize it with the name of some of your guests.

For example,

“Ole – allowed, bull hats too,

Jose keep it up and do not boo!”

Fun Hats that cheer for Holland, for Spain you can have “torero fighter” , bull hats or fun red and yellow wigs like the ones shown above!

For decorations, print out flags of both teams and hang them around your home! Have a professional face painter  make creative and different works of art. Check out this spanish fan…

If you are planning to have this party at home, because you want it to be a family gathering, make sure you have activities for adults and children alike. It is a great opportunity to teach children  not only about the game but about where it is held also. Ask your friends to come in early and before the party starts, make some fun entertaining games for children and explain that this will be their time, and when the game begins, they can either watch or play with the games you have chosen. If the kids are aware of the rules, it is more likely  they will not interrupt.

Some activities for the children: have costumes, bandanas, whistles, vuvuzelas, hats and wigs so they can get dressed to cheer for their favorite team, (it doesn’t matter if they have already been disqualified), have different pictures of the countries participating and also explain about the traditions from South Africa, it is amazing how much they learn with play!

Lets talk Food! Finger food is perfect for this celebration. Have a variety of dips and food representing both sides. Spanish tapas and Hollandese hors d’oeuvres are a wonderful option. Hams and cheeses and mini servings of paella, chorizo (spanish sausage) and of course cold beer or wine. Put mini flags symbolizing where the food is from and do not forget to decorate the table. Take a look at this cute clog!

And for dessert, I want to share this great idea that was sent to me by my dear friend Jaime, who is already preparing for his celebration of the grand finale of the World Cup.  If you are familiarized with the soccer frenzy you have probably heard of Paul the octopus. This octopus has become a World Cup phenomenon after correctly predicting the winners of all six Germany’s matches. He predicts it by grabbing an oyster from a crystal box. He has picked an oyster from the box with the Spanish flag so he thinks they will beat the Netherlands in Sunday’s final in Johannesburg, South Africa. We shall see. But going back to the dessert… It is a ball of chocolate ice cream and the octopus is sculpted in fondant. No one will be mad at this Paul…he is toooo cute!

Lego Racer Party

June 25, 2010

Automobile racing….  Their passion

Speed…….. their creed

Dixie and Prixie  their names

Ladies and gentleman, Boys and Girls please give a warm welcome to the Racey Racers….

These two characters are Car Racers and they host a fun game show that involves Team Effort! Team Effort means that you have to work together with your friends in order to achieve a common goal! I just love the faces of our happy kids when we explain to them what Team Effort means and when asked about their goals in life…For many six year olds their goal in life is to win the Racey Racers game show that day. Good to live in the moment, the racers explain about challenges and how it is good to have goals at school and in life too!

Decoration, Backdrop and setup can be included. For this party, table cloths were solid red, blue and yellow and with a black and white checkers small cover on top.

Plates were in solid colors like the table cloths. Centerpieces were red tin pales with balloons, tissue paper and candy canes. The goodie boxes were stackable and had lego toy stickers and assorted candy.

The kids are divided into two teams:  Red Team and Blue Team. Some of the challenges involved obstacle racing, Lego Tower building, line dancing,  funky car races with our specially designed cars, “ballooney kids”,  Huge costumes that are filled by balloons, and, of course,  a Nascar Style celebration with foam and bubbles!

Roll paper mommies!  READY, STEADY, GO….GO, GO, GO!!!!

Assisting the kids at a Lego tower building activity!

Mad Scientist Party

June 24, 2010

We are working hard on developing our Mad Scientinst Birthday Party

Science projects are always fun. On the video, my children learning about eruptions and volcano’s and the oldest is assisting to a Science Camp which has been tons of fun so I thought to myself… What if we have a nice Dr. / teacher help us at our parties, a funny assistant can join us too! And so Dr. Funzo was created.

Super cute cupcakes. This creative mom shares some ideas on how to create these cupcakes which can substitute cake. You can check more pictures at livinglocurto.com

Another option is an erupting volcano cake. Check this one out:

Here is a preview of the Fun Activities we can do at this party:

All your comments are highly appreciated!

Dr. funzo sure knows how to make science fun.

Have her at your next party or event. These are some of the activities you can choose from:

1.  Volcano explosion. Kids will watch at awe while Dr. Funzo explains how eruptions occur and then watch one really explosive one right there before their own eyes.

2.  Color changing energy Beads. The kids will each create a bracelet using color changing beads. The experiment teaches kids about ultraviolet radiation and the care that needs to be taken to prevent the damage it may cause. Ultraviolet (UV) light is the invisible radiation that will give you a sunburn and injure your eyes if you’re not careful. It really convinces them that sunglasses and sunscreens are a must!

3.  ALIEN WORMS. Let them explore the science of building polymers by cross-linking long chains of molecules. The process of making Instant Worms is faster and easier than the classic Slime recipe and it happens the very second the two liquids mix. Truly amazing!

4.  SUPER GEYSER CABIN.  We have a specially designed cabin which can fit up to six kids inside who will experience a super geyser explosion. Using the same volcano principle, kids go inside this gigantic cabin, wear safety goggles and a cape. This is tons of fun!!

5.   OOOBLECK. Who is Dr. Seuss? Could he have been ahead of his time when he spoke about Oobleck? You will make your own oobleck today.

6.  LAVA LAMP. How do they work. Make your own with Dr. Funzo.

Fill your atmosphere with lots and lots of color to recreate your Circus atmosphere. You can use an array of airtubes or go with lots of balloons. This is a party for the senses, color for the visual, and for smell and taste, a pop-corn machine and cotton candy, for hear, carnival and circus music all the way, those distinctive tunes you hear at the circus will enchant kids but also adults, and for touch, how about renting lots of carnival games and decorations  from www.hippojoy.com like custom made entrance ticket area, centerpieces, tent decoration, airtube decor, candyland table, 3d cakes and more….

Check out this fun ideas created by Kara, a fun mom who loves parties! Check her blog at Karaspartyideas.blogspot.com She is very creative and fun.

Here, airtube decoration. Ask for color availability. You can do so many creative things using these tubes!

And if you want to go with balloons, why not create a fun circus character at the entrance with balloons like this cute clown?

For a character host you can choose between clowns, Circus girl, fortune teller, jugglers, or Ring Master. He/She can help you directing all the games at the party.

Some fun games idea for this party are: Coin Toss, pinch the balloons for prizes, toss balls, dunking well, fishing and water gun competition.

For fun crafts, make your own clown face, face painting, make your own stilts (these are fun to do and to try on later, no worries, they are very safe too!), circus picture frames with picture opportunity.

For invitations, you can send in an admission ticket, create your very own Circus Tent invite or dress up your kid as a clown or Ring Master and send an e-invite!
