Celebrating Bollywood Style!!!

September 15, 2013

Bollywood is the informal term popularly used for the Hindi -language film industry based in Mumbai (Bombay). Like Hollywood, it is the largest film producer in India and one of the largest centers of film production in the world.

If you want your girl to have a cultural experience… celebrate with a Bollywood Style party.  We can help you out, from the custom design for the invitations, to entertainment and decoration.

Bollywood is perceived as all colorful, musical extravaganzas and melodrama. A perfect theme for girls ages 9-12!

First things first, the girls receive an intense Spa treatment. They couldn’t get enough of the pampering.

Image

For this decoration, lots of candle lights (we use battery operated ones), cushions in every color, and incense.

Time for the girls to transform into Bollywood Divas! They all wore their glamorous sarees and tunics with style!

Mandatory pose!

Then it was time to accessorize with jewelry and the traditional mehndi.

Mehndi is typically applied during special festivals and Hindu events like weddings.  Many women have Henna applied to their hands and feet.

Sweet Fever, anyone?

October 9, 2010

We recently started promoting our new candy bar and sweet tooth buffets. They have become a new fever!

You can have them at Weddings, Sweet sixteens, quinceañeras and family gatherings…

You can choose the colors of your party to match your candy bar.

In this case, grey, red, and a black accent. This bar included fruit, dark and white chocolate, assorted mini alfajores. What you see in the shape of a cake is actually a tower of chocolate strawberries.

Man vrs. Wild Birthday Adventure!

September 2, 2010

Rodrigo is turning 10, he is very specific about what he wants!  His favorite show is Man vrs Wild and he watches it with his dad.

He is passionate about the outdoors, he likes to go camping,  fishing and enjoys aquatic sports and basketball and soccer.

In the show, Man vrs Wild, Bear Grylls,  teaches how to survive in the worst of situations and goes to the most exotic places.

Edward Michael Grylls, nicknamed “Bear”, (born 7 June 1974) is a British adventurer, writer and tv presenter. He is best known for his television series Man vs. Wild in the United States, although this show was originally called Born Survivor in Britain. He is the youngest Briton to climb Mount Everest, doing so at age 23. In July 2009, Grylls was appointed the youngest ever Chief Scout at the age of 35. (Information from Wikipedia)

Now, back to our Child-Wild and his party… Here he is, kayaking at the Florida Keys with his lil sister.

OK so an adventure and fun Man vrs Wild Party it is!! First, the invitation….Man vrs Wild with Rodrigo .

The kids began to arrive at a local park with a lake on the background and plenty of space to run around and for our wild relay/adventure!

Instructions for safety came first at this party!

In teams and getting ready for a sack race!

Like Bear Grylls, our group of adventurers had to go under caves, pass crawling down bridges, sac race, throw knock down animals (cardboard figurines) , go down a zip line and eat animal, eyes, ants and even baboo poop to survive the challenge! They got divided in teams so they cheered for their team to go faster!

The cake of course was a delicious snake by Lineth. The detail in the cake was amazing, even the flies were edible. Rodrigo was specific in what he wanted: ” A  Snake with a bloody knife,  because Bear kills his own food to survive! ”  (Blood and all, I still think the snake is so adorable!)

I will have to say that the hit of this party was the zip line at the end of our relay…

Fab-Diva Party!

August 31, 2010

“Last Friday we had a wonderful time at a Divalicious Fab Party at Isabella’s house!”

Isn’t she Gorgeous?

She is beautiful and with such a vivacious personality and so were her adorable friends.  All her BFF’s (Best Friends Forever) were at her party.

Roxanne, our Casting Director from France and Anna Marie an Italian/french model who had just got off the plane from an extravagant Fashion Runway in Paris, arrived at her house because they were told that they could find new and fresh talent at Isabella’s private Diva Gathering. Boy they were right!  That place happened to have the most talented models ever!

Today I will post some beautiful pictures sent by Isabella’s mom. Thank you for letting us share them.  Be patient, I hope I will have more time this week to post more pics of the party itself.

No Diva table would be complete without a gorgeous candelabra!

View of the Buffet table.  Our Divas were very much into fashion, glamour and decor!  They noticed every single detail and some of them even inspected the tiny crystal ware (all is matched to their exact size).  Everything was impecable, we can not risk our reputation with these glamorous divas! Everyone, looked for their name in their own place cards and drank from her tiny cups and made a toast in honor of Isabella and for such a wonderful evening.

Both chairs and tables are fit to their size for their comfort.

And what divalicious party would be complete without a Diva Cake? Check out this beautiful cake with mini diva purse. Thank you Lineth again for such a wonderful and yummy creation.

Before playing dress up and the Runway, the girls got to do some picture frames to take home.

Phineas and Ferb… and Perry the Platypus Party

August 31, 2010

I know what we are going to do today…..

Let’s celebrate Phineas and Ferb style!! With creativity.

Twists for this party?   Plenty!

We have had boys telling us they want a Perry the Platypus Party and girls saying they want a Candance  celebration, based on the episode squirrel in my pants, even a boy wanting a Dr. Doofenshmirtz’s schemes celebration! There is no limit to what we can do for this party and we strongly suggest you bring your birthday child to the consultation process because children, most of the time can tell us by themselves what would be a hit at their party.  Mom and dads go for the general theme so here are some great ideas, styles, cakes and fun for a Birthday party based on any or every character of this fabulous cartoon you can see in Disney Channel.

The Dr. Doofenshmirtz’s Scheme and Invention Party theme is great.  And so is the story that gave life to our party theme.

In comes this mom to the consultation almost apologizing for bringing in his six year old (who happened to be the birthday boy). Sebastian was vivacious and could not stop moving with excitement;  he wanted to see the centerpieces we were working on, he asked tons of questions, he wanted to know why I was making a big tea cup with flowers when tea cups are for drinking milk, or tea or coffee…

“Is that your new invention?”  he asked me.

“Yes” , I replied proudly. It is my new invention.”

“So you are like Dr. Doofenshmirtz too? ” he asked.  “I like Dr. Doofenshmirtz, but no one understands him”,  he said in a soft voice.

Meanwhile, his mom spoke to my business partner,  Nancy,  about a Phineas and Ferb cake…..

“Wait a minute!”  I interrupted,  “I know what we are going to do this time…. A Doofenshmirtz’s scheme and invention session!”

So we decided that the character that should visit Sebastian’s party would be an old friend of Doofenshmirtz’s, Dr. Funzo and he would help the children create a gigantic Box-Robot for themselves. We would have a game with the children and their robot costumes, create our own scheme. How much fun, this craft project really works!  The children had lots of creativity. Here are some cute examples of what the Doofenshmirtz’s robots can look like:

You can go as simple or as complicated as you wish. It doesn’t matter! It is what our character tells them to do and how we build their imagination what really counts.  This is a great recycling project too.

Check out our new video for Dr. Funzo:

Ariella, on the other hand, wanted an “I want everything that has to do with Phineas and Ferb party”.  She is also an amazing dancer, and even got to do a Hip Hop performance at her own party.  She wanted a Perry the Platypus Piñata too!

This is a cute picture sent by her parents with the Perry-piñata and below she is dancing some Hip-Hop.  Have you ever danced/played the game squirrel on my pants?

Now, of course, we must not forget Perry!

We are currently preparing an Agent P party! It will be totally awesome. For this one, I will just give you a small hint because I bet some of the guests to this party are already reading this blog!

A HA! Gottcha!  Sorry, we just don’t want to ruin the surprise for you at Diego’s Bday.  Just a hint: we all get to be detectives! Each one chooses a letter so we will have Agent F, Agent C, Agent D and an unsuspected, unexpected and totally unaware guest will be a part of these curious investigators. Of course they will be wearing…

This beautiful Perry T-shirts!

CAKES?

Check out this cute ideas…

This first one was created by Simply Homemade Cakes

Assorted cookies and Perry the Platypus cake by cake central.

I want you to check out this wonderful idea by a very creative dad who took an episode in his own hands and built an inaction Perry, the toy who does nothing!  Here I post his own words to describe it…

Perry the Platypus Inaction Figure is a wooden toy that is modelled after Perry (Disney cartoon characters – Phineas and Ferb’s pet platypus).
In the episode
Toy to the World, Phineas and Ferb design a toy “so stupidly simple, so basically bland, so idiotically uncomplicated, that it can do absolutely anything.”
For my son’s 6th birthday party we all made Inaction Figures, it was a lot of fun!!

To check out his step by step guide to make your own Perry Inaction Figure, go to…http://www.instructables.com/id/How-to-Build-a-Perry-the-Platypus-Inaction-Figure/

Who doesn’t love this amazing characters capable of doing anything and willing to do everything to have fun. To be honest,  I can totally understand them, and fully relate to them!

Unforgettable Snow White!

July 13, 2010

“Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs is a 1937 american animated film based on Snow White, a fairy tale by the Brothers Grimm. It was also the first full-length cel-animated feature in motion picture history, as well as the first animated feature film produced in America, the first produced in full color, the first to be produced by Walt Disney and the first in the Walt Disney Animated Classics canon”. (Information from Wikipedia)

I remember when I first saw Disney’s Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs on the big screen, I think I was six or  seven years old, but I couldn’t get over the fact that even though it was an animated movie, the  water teardrops falling in the well and making  small circular effects looked so real!  “How can they do that?”  I asked my mom.

There is something else that never seizes to amaze me though, in fact, it inspires me: children’s imagination and their ability to transform the simple into extraordinary!  They are so curious and so creative…

All children are special and have their very own talents.  Ariel,(in the picture posing at her Snow White Party) stole my heart from the minute I met her at ballet lessons back in my country of origin, El Salvador.

She is an incredible dancer and gets so much into character when she performs that surprises children and adults alike. So when her mom sent me this picture of her wearing her Snow White Costume,  I got so inspired that I wrote and wrote and developed our “Snow White-Theater” script party. It is awesome, and we have two versions, one for beginners and one for advanced performers like Ariel. I promise I will squeeze in a few ideas from the script in the article.

For our Theatre Party Scripts, write us a note or e-mail us. You can purchase the Script with easy to follow instructions for your party or go all the way inviting us there with a couple of character Hosts who not only direct but are part of the scenes too. We have our Snow White, Prince Charming and Magical Witches.  Theatre Parties are sooo much fun and so is a make-up session and dress up!

No Snow White Party would be complete, without two things: A Mirror, mirror on the wall, saying “Who is the Fairest   of them all! and a Wishing Well, like this one we rent made out of cardboard, but with a string and pale girls can either   pull out their part from the script and find out what character they will play. If you are not into theatre parties,        have your guests fish out of the well nice fortune wishes like the ones you can find in fortune cookies. It is also a nice item to use to pick  prizes randomly.

For this party we decorate with paper flowers and lanterns. (check out pics from Alice in Wonderland Party in this blog).  We can also make the forest animals out of foam. At theatre parties our super cute forest animal masks are made of fabric. (These roles are played by the smallest guests ).

I love the outdoors for this party but in case the Weather is not cooperative enough or you would rather have it  inside, check out this awesome magical backdrop that you can find at digitalblasphemy.com

This beautiful backdrop, the wishing well, fake trees and forest animals, totally set the mood at an indoor party,  don’t you agree?

Now, another fun game….Do you remember this scene from Snow White and the Seven dwarfs?

For this game, we recreate the cave. Kids get a chance to sing, dance and pick hidden treasures from the cave!

For treasures,  ring pops, chocolate coins, rings with huge precious stones. Now when our guest-dwarfs go back home…(to their sitting places..) Ohhhh no! Princess Ariel White is gone. What to do?  Where to look? Any ideas?

Now, if you have a girl that loves to perform like Ariel, (Birthday girll/star of the show) and several kids playing forest animals and

dwarfs, the best way to go is to invite the Medieval/Evil queen as a character host.

Our Host acts as the queen but also directs the kids when she grins ACTION!

You can also invite her to your party, even if it is not a theatre party, she will read the story and add funny comments from her own perspective!

Now for the cake, Check out this beautiful creation by Lineth Cakes,

we are very fortunate to work with her at our parties. She is so professional and

creative and will go along with any of your ideas and add or enhance them, all

the time. And we can get very creative at times….

To check more of her creations visit her facebook page lineth’cake’s

Another food item that you should not leave out at your little girl’s Snow White Party is apples. Make a game where girls pick apples from a small swimming pool using their mouth only or if you want to avoid the splashes … make caramel apples.

I really hope you enjoy this party as much as I have enjoyed writing this article. Thank you Ariel and Gabi for the inspiration and for sharing your picture with us. I love you and wish you the best in your ballet carreer.

As for Hosts, we have Snow White, Prince Charming  and Medieval/evil. We can also help you with decoration and planning your next Snow White Party. Check out our original version of Snow White at a party:

Planning a World Cup Final Playoff Party

July 10, 2010

And its a Goooaaal!! or in Spanish, la mete y es un Goooooooooool!!!

For the past month the world has been focused on the 2010 World Cup Tournament in South Africa. It is a great opportunity for friends to gather together and watch the game. Besides the excitement of the game itself it has been fun to watch fans from all over the world supporting their favorite team and dressed up so creatively and fun!

South Africans welcomed football/soccer fans to their country to the first World Cup to be held on the continent and the sound of the vuvuzela horns has sure become a trademark of this 2010 event.  On Sunday , the final game is here and it will be played between Spain and the Netherlands.

No matter what team you will cheer for, this is a great time to have a fun with family, friends, and have a “World Cup Final Playoff Party” so here I post some ideas for you to prepare for Sunday!

Ask your friends to come dressed up ready to cheer, it is really fun to have guys from opposite teams!  Make a huge poster with rules against violence between both sides, make it funny and personalize it with the name of some of your guests.

For example,

“Ole – allowed, bull hats too,

Jose keep it up and do not boo!”

Fun Hats that cheer for Holland, for Spain you can have “torero fighter” , bull hats or fun red and yellow wigs like the ones shown above!

For decorations, print out flags of both teams and hang them around your home! Have a professional face painter  make creative and different works of art. Check out this spanish fan…

If you are planning to have this party at home, because you want it to be a family gathering, make sure you have activities for adults and children alike. It is a great opportunity to teach children  not only about the game but about where it is held also. Ask your friends to come in early and before the party starts, make some fun entertaining games for children and explain that this will be their time, and when the game begins, they can either watch or play with the games you have chosen. If the kids are aware of the rules, it is more likely  they will not interrupt.

Some activities for the children: have costumes, bandanas, whistles, vuvuzelas, hats and wigs so they can get dressed to cheer for their favorite team, (it doesn’t matter if they have already been disqualified), have different pictures of the countries participating and also explain about the traditions from South Africa, it is amazing how much they learn with play!

Lets talk Food! Finger food is perfect for this celebration. Have a variety of dips and food representing both sides. Spanish tapas and Hollandese hors d’oeuvres are a wonderful option. Hams and cheeses and mini servings of paella, chorizo (spanish sausage) and of course cold beer or wine. Put mini flags symbolizing where the food is from and do not forget to decorate the table. Take a look at this cute clog!

And for dessert, I want to share this great idea that was sent to me by my dear friend Jaime, who is already preparing for his celebration of the grand finale of the World Cup.  If you are familiarized with the soccer frenzy you have probably heard of Paul the octopus. This octopus has become a World Cup phenomenon after correctly predicting the winners of all six Germany’s matches. He predicts it by grabbing an oyster from a crystal box. He has picked an oyster from the box with the Spanish flag so he thinks they will beat the Netherlands in Sunday’s final in Johannesburg, South Africa. We shall see. But going back to the dessert… It is a ball of chocolate ice cream and the octopus is sculpted in fondant. No one will be mad at this Paul…he is toooo cute!
