Celebrating Bollywood Style!!!

September 15, 2013

Bollywood is the informal term popularly used for the Hindi -language film industry based in Mumbai (Bombay). Like Hollywood, it is the largest film producer in India and one of the largest centers of film production in the world.

If you want your girl to have a cultural experience… celebrate with a Bollywood Style party.  We can help you out, from the custom design for the invitations, to entertainment and decoration.

Bollywood is perceived as all colorful, musical extravaganzas and melodrama. A perfect theme for girls ages 9-12!

First things first, the girls receive an intense Spa treatment. They couldn’t get enough of the pampering.

For this decoration, lots of candle lights (we use battery operated ones), cushions in every color, and incense.

Time for the girls to transform into Bollywood Divas! They all wore their glamorous sarees and tunics with style!

Then it was time to accessorize with jewelry and the traditional mehndi.

Mehndi is typically applied during special festivals and Hindu events like weddings.  Many women have Henna applied to their hands and feet.

New Candy Buffet

April 5, 2012

The best ideas come were you least expect them. At our last Spa party, Claudia, the twins mom suggested an antique chest for the serving of the sweet buffet. “Instead of fabric, you can use it both as a perfect backdrop for pictures and a buffet”, she suggested.

I could not get the idea off my mind. So I persuaded my loving husband to get me one. We worked hard on it antiqued it, but the results were fantastic!

Depending on the theme, we place the sweets in jars, trays and mix it with whimsical items. For the Spa party, flower balls in pink and lime green and brazilian brigadeiros on a tub. How cute is that?

The sweets:

Diva lolipops, pop corn flowers, white chocolate strawberries and coconut and oreo filled little balls.

Cupcake and Pirate Charm

December 19, 2010

We are so happy to introduce to you our new team character hosts: Princess Cupcake and Pirate Charm.

Princess Cupcake is a beautiful princess from a far, far, far away land. She was about to get married to a horrible, terrible, despicable man, when she falls madly in love with a peasent. She did not know the peasant was in reality a pirate who helped the people from the village that where held prisoners by the evil future king….

Our characters were inspired by Robin Hood, Zorro and the Princess Bride.  The film, the Princess Bride,  is an enactment of the following story read by a sick boy’s grandfather (Falk) as the boy (Savage) sits in bed listening, framed and occasionally interrupted by scenes of the reading.
A beautiful young woman named Buttercup (Wright) lives on a farm in the fictional country of Florin.
Whenever she orders the farmhand Westley (Elwes) to do chores for her, he complies and answers “As you wish.”
Eventually she realizes he loves her and admits her love for him.  Watch a trailer of the movie from the 80’s:

Handsome Pirate Charm plays games with the kids. We can even recreate a fun jail where they are brought in. To get out, they have to either be rescued by friends, comply to a princess wish or perform a task for Pirate Charm.

Children will love to perform and play a variety of games at your next party.

Choo Choooooo!

September 20, 2010

Choo Chooo!  Yes, I think I can,  Yes, I can… Remember the train from Dumbo who was trying to climb  up a hill and kept telling himself,  I think I can, I think I can?

With a bunch of parties to work on and a couple of bridals in the way… We feel like the Choo Choo right now!

Thomas the train, The Little Train that Could, and many others are  favorites  for boys ages 1 and up!

This centerpieces are for Alex and his third birthday.

I love the idea that they are all different!  Some are for favors and some will have helium balloons. Which one is your favorite?

Thankyou Silvia for such beautiful artwork!

Roxanne, the Casting/Producer and Anna Marie c’est Top Model

September 3, 2010

“Bonjour, mon nom est Roxanne. Et c’est mon ami, le haut modèlent Anna Marie…”

Outside the Maison,  hung a sign saying: Little girl, Big Attitude.

Are we at the right place? Might this be the right Diva party?

We rang the door-bell.

With my english/french accent:

“Hallo , we have been invited to C’est party and we were told there vas lots of talent here…Is Isabella home?”

“Yes, she is”,  answered her mom and called out:   “Isabella, you have visitors…. a Casting Director from France and she comes with a Model…”

Isabella appears at the front door with a bunch of her beautiful talented friends and a happy, wonderful and fun party begins…

The producer needs to find out if there really is talent at that Glamorous party like she was told. Anna Marie helps the girls and tells them how to walk and pose for the cameras!

Here, beautiful Sofia takes a turn practicing before dress-up session!  Some of the moms, also lined up for the make-up session!  I love interactive,  ready to play and participating moms. This is great for the kids too,  because they have a fun and quality time with their mothers. A girl never forgets that day when mom allowed herself to be a child again!

Part of our portable make-up kit/station

Isabella and her pretty and talented guests, listening to Madame Roxanne’s instructions before the Fashion Runway show!

Our models, wanted to do well with the casting/director. Some of them even went back and forth, asking their mothers how you pronounced a few words in french. One of them came up to me with a very serious tone in her voice and says:

“Madame Roxanne, at the fashion show,  I will do my best and put to practice everything I have learned today, but if you don’t like it… “C’est la vie”. That is “that is life” in french”,  she clarified.  Of course,  she, and all of Isabella’s friends did wonderful at the show, and earned their kits to prepare for Hollywood and Cannes!

Anna Marie and I had a wonderful time at this party. I want to thank Isabella’s mom for allowing us to share this beautiful pictures with you. These pictures, and the ones from the decoration, (check out the article in this blog:  Fab-Diva Party at this link: https://hippojoy.wordpress.com/2010/08/31/fab-diva-party/), were took by professional photographer, Gabriela OCampo, Phone 407-595-1806

A few people can honestly say they love their job! I am so fortunate to say I am one of them. I really enjoy playing. Role playing, acting and having fun with your children.  A time to play,  is always,  a time to learn!

Fab-Diva Party!

August 31, 2010

“Last Friday we had a wonderful time at a Divalicious Fab Party at Isabella’s house!”

Isn’t she Gorgeous?

She is beautiful and with such a vivacious personality and so were her adorable friends.  All her BFF’s (Best Friends Forever) were at her party.

Roxanne, our Casting Director from France and Anna Marie an Italian/french model who had just got off the plane from an extravagant Fashion Runway in Paris, arrived at her house because they were told that they could find new and fresh talent at Isabella’s private Diva Gathering. Boy they were right!  That place happened to have the most talented models ever!

Today I will post some beautiful pictures sent by Isabella’s mom. Thank you for letting us share them.  Be patient, I hope I will have more time this week to post more pics of the party itself.

No Diva table would be complete without a gorgeous candelabra!

View of the Buffet table.  Our Divas were very much into fashion, glamour and decor!  They noticed every single detail and some of them even inspected the tiny crystal ware (all is matched to their exact size).  Everything was impecable, we can not risk our reputation with these glamorous divas! Everyone, looked for their name in their own place cards and drank from her tiny cups and made a toast in honor of Isabella and for such a wonderful evening.

Both chairs and tables are fit to their size for their comfort.

And what divalicious party would be complete without a Diva Cake? Check out this beautiful cake with mini diva purse. Thank you Lineth again for such a wonderful and yummy creation.

Before playing dress up and the Runway, the girls got to do some picture frames to take home.

For us to come decorate your party…

Planning a World Cup Final Playoff Party

July 10, 2010

And its a Goooaaal!! or in Spanish, la mete y es un Goooooooooool!!!

For the past month the world has been focused on the 2010 World Cup Tournament in South Africa. It is a great opportunity for friends to gather together and watch the game. Besides the excitement of the game itself it has been fun to watch fans from all over the world supporting their favorite team and dressed up so creatively and fun!

South Africans welcomed football/soccer fans to their country to the first World Cup to be held on the continent and the sound of the vuvuzela horns has sure become a trademark of this 2010 event.  On Sunday , the final game is here and it will be played between Spain and the Netherlands.

No matter what team you will cheer for, this is a great time to have a fun with family, friends, and have a “World Cup Final Playoff Party” so here I post some ideas for you to prepare for Sunday!

Ask your friends to come dressed up ready to cheer, it is really fun to have guys from opposite teams!  Make a huge poster with rules against violence between both sides, make it funny and personalize it with the name of some of your guests.

For example,

“Ole – allowed, bull hats too,

Jose keep it up and do not boo!”

Fun Hats that cheer for Holland, for Spain you can have “torero fighter” , bull hats or fun red and yellow wigs like the ones shown above!

For decorations, print out flags of both teams and hang them around your home! Have a professional face painter  make creative and different works of art. Check out this spanish fan…

If you are planning to have this party at home, because you want it to be a family gathering, make sure you have activities for adults and children alike. It is a great opportunity to teach children  not only about the game but about where it is held also. Ask your friends to come in early and before the party starts, make some fun entertaining games for children and explain that this will be their time, and when the game begins, they can either watch or play with the games you have chosen. If the kids are aware of the rules, it is more likely  they will not interrupt.

Some activities for the children: have costumes, bandanas, whistles, vuvuzelas, hats and wigs so they can get dressed to cheer for their favorite team, (it doesn’t matter if they have already been disqualified), have different pictures of the countries participating and also explain about the traditions from South Africa, it is amazing how much they learn with play!

Lets talk Food! Finger food is perfect for this celebration. Have a variety of dips and food representing both sides. Spanish tapas and Hollandese hors d’oeuvres are a wonderful option. Hams and cheeses and mini servings of paella, chorizo (spanish sausage) and of course cold beer or wine. Put mini flags symbolizing where the food is from and do not forget to decorate the table. Take a look at this cute clog!

And for dessert, I want to share this great idea that was sent to me by my dear friend Jaime, who is already preparing for his celebration of the grand finale of the World Cup.  If you are familiarized with the soccer frenzy you have probably heard of Paul the octopus. This octopus has become a World Cup phenomenon after correctly predicting the winners of all six Germany’s matches. He predicts it by grabbing an oyster from a crystal box. He has picked an oyster from the box with the Spanish flag so he thinks they will beat the Netherlands in Sunday’s final in Johannesburg, South Africa. We shall see. But going back to the dessert… It is a ball of chocolate ice cream and the octopus is sculpted in fondant. No one will be mad at this Paul…he is toooo cute!
