New Candy Buffet

April 5, 2012

The best ideas come were you least expect them. At our last Spa party, Claudia, the twins mom suggested an antique chest for the serving of the sweet buffet. “Instead of fabric, you can use it both as a perfect backdrop for pictures and a buffet”, she suggested.

I could not get the idea off my mind. So I persuaded my loving husband to get me one. We worked hard on it antiqued it, but the results were fantastic!

Depending on the theme, we place the sweets in jars, trays and mix it with whimsical items. For the Spa party, flower balls in pink and lime green and brazilian brigadeiros on a tub. How cute is that?

The sweets:

Diva lolipops, pop corn flowers, white chocolate strawberries and coconut and oreo filled little balls.

Here is what the plate looked like: heart shaped sandwiches, heart marshmallows and chocolate balls, yum, yum!

Cupcake and Pirate Charm

December 19, 2010

We are so happy to introduce to you our new team character hosts: Princess Cupcake and Pirate Charm.

Princess Cupcake is a beautiful princess from a far, far, far away land. She was about to get married to a horrible, terrible, despicable man, when she falls madly in love with a peasent. She did not know the peasant was in reality a pirate who helped the people from the village that where held prisoners by the evil future king….

Our characters were inspired by Robin Hood, Zorro and the Princess Bride.  The film, the Princess Bride,  is an enactment of the following story read by a sick boy’s grandfather (Falk) as the boy (Savage) sits in bed listening, framed and occasionally interrupted by scenes of the reading.
A beautiful young woman named Buttercup (Wright) lives on a farm in the fictional country of Florin.
Whenever she orders the farmhand Westley (Elwes) to do chores for her, he complies and answers “As you wish.”
Eventually she realizes he loves her and admits her love for him.  Watch a trailer of the movie from the 80’s:

Handsome Pirate Charm plays games with the kids. We can even recreate a fun jail where they are brought in. To get out, they have to either be rescued by friends, comply to a princess wish or perform a task for Pirate Charm.

Children will love to perform and play a variety of games at your next party.

Choo Choooooo!

September 20, 2010

Choo Chooo!  Yes, I think I can,  Yes, I can… Remember the train from Dumbo who was trying to climb  up a hill and kept telling himself,  I think I can, I think I can?

With a bunch of parties to work on and a couple of bridals in the way… We feel like the Choo Choo right now!

Thomas the train, The Little Train that Could, and many others are  favorites  for boys ages 1 and up!

This centerpieces are for Alex and his third birthday.

I love the idea that they are all different!  Some are for favors and some will have helium balloons. Which one is your favorite?

Thankyou Silvia for such beautiful artwork!

Man vrs. Wild Birthday Adventure!

September 2, 2010

Rodrigo is turning 10, he is very specific about what he wants!  His favorite show is Man vrs Wild and he watches it with his dad.

He is passionate about the outdoors, he likes to go camping,  fishing and enjoys aquatic sports and basketball and soccer.

In the show, Man vrs Wild, Bear Grylls,  teaches how to survive in the worst of situations and goes to the most exotic places.

Edward Michael Grylls, nicknamed “Bear”, (born 7 June 1974) is a British adventurer, writer and tv presenter. He is best known for his television series Man vs. Wild in the United States, although this show was originally called Born Survivor in Britain. He is the youngest Briton to climb Mount Everest, doing so at age 23. In July 2009, Grylls was appointed the youngest ever Chief Scout at the age of 35. (Information from Wikipedia)

Now, back to our Child-Wild and his party… Here he is, kayaking at the Florida Keys with his lil sister.

OK so an adventure and fun Man vrs Wild Party it is!! First, the invitation….Man vrs Wild with Rodrigo .

The kids began to arrive at a local park with a lake on the background and plenty of space to run around and for our wild relay/adventure!

Instructions for safety came first at this party!

In teams and getting ready for a sack race!

Like Bear Grylls, our group of adventurers had to go under caves, pass crawling down bridges, sac race, throw knock down animals (cardboard figurines) , go down a zip line and eat animal, eyes, ants and even baboo poop to survive the challenge! They got divided in teams so they cheered for their team to go faster!

The cake of course was a delicious snake by Lineth. The detail in the cake was amazing, even the flies were edible. Rodrigo was specific in what he wanted: ” A  Snake with a bloody knife,  because Bear kills his own food to survive! ”  (Blood and all, I still think the snake is so adorable!)

I will have to say that the hit of this party was the zip line at the end of our relay…

Fab-Diva Party!

August 31, 2010

“Last Friday we had a wonderful time at a Divalicious Fab Party at Isabella’s house!”

Isn’t she Gorgeous?

She is beautiful and with such a vivacious personality and so were her adorable friends.  All her BFF’s (Best Friends Forever) were at her party.

Roxanne, our Casting Director from France and Anna Marie an Italian/french model who had just got off the plane from an extravagant Fashion Runway in Paris, arrived at her house because they were told that they could find new and fresh talent at Isabella’s private Diva Gathering. Boy they were right!  That place happened to have the most talented models ever!

Today I will post some beautiful pictures sent by Isabella’s mom. Thank you for letting us share them.  Be patient, I hope I will have more time this week to post more pics of the party itself.

No Diva table would be complete without a gorgeous candelabra!

View of the Buffet table.  Our Divas were very much into fashion, glamour and decor!  They noticed every single detail and some of them even inspected the tiny crystal ware (all is matched to their exact size).  Everything was impecable, we can not risk our reputation with these glamorous divas! Everyone, looked for their name in their own place cards and drank from her tiny cups and made a toast in honor of Isabella and for such a wonderful evening.

Both chairs and tables are fit to their size for their comfort.

And what divalicious party would be complete without a Diva Cake? Check out this beautiful cake with mini diva purse. Thank you Lineth again for such a wonderful and yummy creation.

Before playing dress up and the Runway, the girls got to do some picture frames to take home.

Phineas and Ferb… and Perry the Platypus Party

August 31, 2010

I know what we are going to do today…..

Let’s celebrate Phineas and Ferb style!! With creativity.

Twists for this party?   Plenty!

We have had boys telling us they want a Perry the Platypus Party and girls saying they want a Candance  celebration, based on the episode squirrel in my pants, even a boy wanting a Dr. Doofenshmirtz’s schemes celebration! There is no limit to what we can do for this party and we strongly suggest you bring your birthday child to the consultation process because children, most of the time can tell us by themselves what would be a hit at their party.  Mom and dads go for the general theme so here are some great ideas, styles, cakes and fun for a Birthday party based on any or every character of this fabulous cartoon you can see in Disney Channel.

The Dr. Doofenshmirtz’s Scheme and Invention Party theme is great.  And so is the story that gave life to our party theme.

In comes this mom to the consultation almost apologizing for bringing in his six year old (who happened to be the birthday boy). Sebastian was vivacious and could not stop moving with excitement;  he wanted to see the centerpieces we were working on, he asked tons of questions, he wanted to know why I was making a big tea cup with flowers when tea cups are for drinking milk, or tea or coffee…

“Is that your new invention?”  he asked me.

“Yes” , I replied proudly. It is my new invention.”

“So you are like Dr. Doofenshmirtz too? ” he asked.  “I like Dr. Doofenshmirtz, but no one understands him”,  he said in a soft voice.

Meanwhile, his mom spoke to my business partner,  Nancy,  about a Phineas and Ferb cake…..

“Wait a minute!”  I interrupted,  “I know what we are going to do this time…. A Doofenshmirtz’s scheme and invention session!”

So we decided that the character that should visit Sebastian’s party would be an old friend of Doofenshmirtz’s, Dr. Funzo and he would help the children create a gigantic Box-Robot for themselves. We would have a game with the children and their robot costumes, create our own scheme. How much fun, this craft project really works!  The children had lots of creativity. Here are some cute examples of what the Doofenshmirtz’s robots can look like:

You can go as simple or as complicated as you wish. It doesn’t matter! It is what our character tells them to do and how we build their imagination what really counts.  This is a great recycling project too.

Check out our new video for Dr. Funzo:

Ariella, on the other hand, wanted an “I want everything that has to do with Phineas and Ferb party”.  She is also an amazing dancer, and even got to do a Hip Hop performance at her own party.  She wanted a Perry the Platypus Piñata too!

This is a cute picture sent by her parents with the Perry-piñata and below she is dancing some Hip-Hop.  Have you ever danced/played the game squirrel on my pants?

Now, of course, we must not forget Perry!

We are currently preparing an Agent P party! It will be totally awesome. For this one, I will just give you a small hint because I bet some of the guests to this party are already reading this blog!

A HA! Gottcha!  Sorry, we just don’t want to ruin the surprise for you at Diego’s Bday.  Just a hint: we all get to be detectives! Each one chooses a letter so we will have Agent F, Agent C, Agent D and an unsuspected, unexpected and totally unaware guest will be a part of these curious investigators. Of course they will be wearing…

This beautiful Perry T-shirts!

CAKES?

Check out this cute ideas…

This first one was created by Simply Homemade Cakes

Assorted cookies and Perry the Platypus cake by cake central.

I want you to check out this wonderful idea by a very creative dad who took an episode in his own hands and built an inaction Perry, the toy who does nothing!  Here I post his own words to describe it…

Perry the Platypus Inaction Figure is a wooden toy that is modelled after Perry (Disney cartoon characters – Phineas and Ferb’s pet platypus).
In the episode
Toy to the World, Phineas and Ferb design a toy “so stupidly simple, so basically bland, so idiotically uncomplicated, that it can do absolutely anything.”
For my son’s 6th birthday party we all made Inaction Figures, it was a lot of fun!!

To check out his step by step guide to make your own Perry Inaction Figure, go to…http://www.instructables.com/id/How-to-Build-a-Perry-the-Platypus-Inaction-Figure/

Who doesn’t love this amazing characters capable of doing anything and willing to do everything to have fun. To be honest,  I can totally understand them, and fully relate to them!

HELLO KITTY Mom and Me, Birthday party

July 13, 2010

I remember the time when my mom finally understood my school’s Hello Kitty fever! I got a pencil case with of course, Hello Kitty eraser, Hello Kitty sharpener and Hello Kitty pencils, I was so excited!

The Hello Kitty fever can remain in our hearts forever. That is why, a Hello Kitty Bday for your little one can be a great time/excuse to invite other moms over and have some Kitty moments themselves.  The color we have chosen, for this Mom and daughter Kitty celebration is red and white for the adult setting table, and for the girls, red, white, fucsia and pink.

Our inspiration piece! A cute hanbag by Sanrio.

I just loved this table setting for the moms who will be having some wonderful moments drinking a glass of wine and eating sushi. The moms only table will be set at the terrace.

Now, lets talk about the kids table setting under a huge oak tree!

The plates will be in solid green. We have chosen this bold color because we want to feature, the girls very own Hello Kitty Sandwich that I found on jam’n’jilly blog, check it out….it is just adorable and nutritious. We will be using the Hello Kitty table place mats and red and white polkadot glasses.

The table mats will also be hanged under the huge tree in the middle of the garden with yellow airtube and more of the red-ball lanterns. The girls will enjoy a served plate consisting of: watermelon slice, followed by the Hello Kitty sandwich and pink lemonade.

Under the tree, a buffet table with more finger food that the girls can pick themselves, more watermelon, celery, carrots and other veggies with a fresh-made dip but also adorable Hello Kitty chocolate lollypops.

Now for entertainment, Miss Rose  (check her out at http://www.hippojoy.com/party_hosts.html ) will share with the children some High Couture tips because they will be decorating the cute little  dresses of Hello Kitty dolls that they can take home afterwards. A fun craft session will keep them entertained.

I found this great site of a wonderful mom that made the Hello Kitty doll and little dresses and bows herself,  for a Hello Kitty party for her daughter. She is a wonderful sewer/designer, she sells patterns and very cool stuff . A must see blog, http://www.ikatbag.com/ Thankyou Li Er for sharing this wonderful idea with us.

The girls have a choice between bow barrrettes or flowers.

To avoid glue and stickiness on paper table cloths, Li Er created some

hangers out of cardboard with a back that helps to avoid the mess.

Girls can add beads and glitter glue to create their own Hello Kitty      fashion dress.

Li Er’s Hello Kittys posing with their cute dresses on before the girls embelish them.

For this party we will not have cake, mom has chosen for the whole bunch cupcakes with a variety of kitty characters. I guess that is the fever of a collector… “Let’s see how many they want/must have, they are just too cute!” she commented when given the choice between cake or cupcakes.

Planning a World Cup Final Playoff Party

July 10, 2010

And its a Goooaaal!! or in Spanish, la mete y es un Goooooooooool!!!

For the past month the world has been focused on the 2010 World Cup Tournament in South Africa. It is a great opportunity for friends to gather together and watch the game. Besides the excitement of the game itself it has been fun to watch fans from all over the world supporting their favorite team and dressed up so creatively and fun!

South Africans welcomed football/soccer fans to their country to the first World Cup to be held on the continent and the sound of the vuvuzela horns has sure become a trademark of this 2010 event.  On Sunday , the final game is here and it will be played between Spain and the Netherlands.

No matter what team you will cheer for, this is a great time to have a fun with family, friends, and have a “World Cup Final Playoff Party” so here I post some ideas for you to prepare for Sunday!

Ask your friends to come dressed up ready to cheer, it is really fun to have guys from opposite teams!  Make a huge poster with rules against violence between both sides, make it funny and personalize it with the name of some of your guests.

For example,

“Ole – allowed, bull hats too,

Jose keep it up and do not boo!”

Fun Hats that cheer for Holland, for Spain you can have “torero fighter” , bull hats or fun red and yellow wigs like the ones shown above!

For decorations, print out flags of both teams and hang them around your home! Have a professional face painter  make creative and different works of art. Check out this spanish fan…

If you are planning to have this party at home, because you want it to be a family gathering, make sure you have activities for adults and children alike. It is a great opportunity to teach children  not only about the game but about where it is held also. Ask your friends to come in early and before the party starts, make some fun entertaining games for children and explain that this will be their time, and when the game begins, they can either watch or play with the games you have chosen. If the kids are aware of the rules, it is more likely  they will not interrupt.

Some activities for the children: have costumes, bandanas, whistles, vuvuzelas, hats and wigs so they can get dressed to cheer for their favorite team, (it doesn’t matter if they have already been disqualified), have different pictures of the countries participating and also explain about the traditions from South Africa, it is amazing how much they learn with play!

Lets talk Food! Finger food is perfect for this celebration. Have a variety of dips and food representing both sides. Spanish tapas and Hollandese hors d’oeuvres are a wonderful option. Hams and cheeses and mini servings of paella, chorizo (spanish sausage) and of course cold beer or wine. Put mini flags symbolizing where the food is from and do not forget to decorate the table. Take a look at this cute clog!

And for dessert, I want to share this great idea that was sent to me by my dear friend Jaime, who is already preparing for his celebration of the grand finale of the World Cup.  If you are familiarized with the soccer frenzy you have probably heard of Paul the octopus. This octopus has become a World Cup phenomenon after correctly predicting the winners of all six Germany’s matches. He predicts it by grabbing an oyster from a crystal box. He has picked an oyster from the box with the Spanish flag so he thinks they will beat the Netherlands in Sunday’s final in Johannesburg, South Africa. We shall see. But going back to the dessert… It is a ball of chocolate ice cream and the octopus is sculpted in fondant. No one will be mad at this Paul…he is toooo cute!
