Mulan, Chinese Tea Party

March 29, 2012

When asked about decoration, I say let’s transport the children to a different era, let them submerge in new experiences. This is the best scenario for a Mulan Party. Birthday parties can also be learning experiences. In this case, about the chinese culture.

Check out this beautiful Mulan setting…Isn’t it inviting??

The Mulan images are by original artists:  play patterns.net.

I love how a garden setting can be transformed for this party. Specially if you are having live entertainment outdoors.

Now, you can also acquire a gorgeus look just by hanging low chinese lanterns everywhere. Like these:

Did I say the wow factor can be the entertainment? It can also be a cultural-learning and joyful experience. Children are already bored of traditional entertainment… they want more. This is definitely different. I bet your guests will talk about this party for a very long time….

The girl in the picture, teaches new Tae Kwon Do moves to the girls. She was the inspiration for the Disney character Mulan. “For real?” shouts out one of the girls, “I want to be like her”.

And the grand finale, out comes a chinese dragon doing the Lion dance, celebration of Chinese New Year.

Creative Ideas for a Western Party

June 16, 2010

Yeeehah!!!! We have just worked on a children’s western party but thought to myself …. How cool! How about an adult version for this party?

Entertainment

For this party you could hire a couple of Cowboy/cowgirls who would mingle with the crowd and show them a couple of cool line dances. The DJ will also be very important for this party because he will know how to mix and match western style songs and smoothly move into other type of music. Remember, unless your friends are totally into these theme, it is a good idea to mix with other music too, have a siren or a sound that announces a Western segment!

Decoration

Check out this beautiful table setting, everyone at the party gets a hat and a colorful bandana that can be placed at their chair or given at the entrance by a welcoming host . Hay bales give a nice touch as well as a section for a picture opportunity. You can be very creative and put a couple o wanted signs or even have fake horses or carriages. Do not forget the buffet table and the bar area. Fun props for this theme are cactus, lanterns, zarapes, horse saddles, horse shoes, old western boots. The peanuts on the pail  idea is for adults only, I would rather keep them at the bar and not as center pieces on the tables, people might have allergies, have special caution if children will be attending , you might want to make it a peanut free party altogether and avoid mishaps!

MECHANICAL BULL

Now if you really want to surprise your guests and have loads of fun, rent a mechanical bull. The idea is to have fun and not to throw everyone away. The last time we had a Western children party with one of this guys, the line was endless, surpassed the pony rides!  Both children and adults love the mechanical Bull! Quick note – Remember Mechanical Bulls and other extreme rides need to be totally insured.

Check this expert, Jamie Manning,  Australian Cowboy go at it while breaking  the Guinness World Record.

Other entertainment can be available for this party, if you want to rent a mechanical bull,  go with this direction, give us a call and get ready for some YEEEEHAHHHHH fun!

Face Painting makes us happy!

May 20, 2010

Bring a face painter to your next party. You can even have a magical fairy or princess that can create small works of art on your guest’s faces.

When picking a face painter there are certain things you need to consider:

Are they used to working with your age group?

Are the products child friendly, use only face painters who use safe and hypoallergenic face paints.

Face painting has a long and illustrious history in state fairs, theme parks, summer camps, school spring fling. You’ll  find it very hard to have a child who has not had their face painted at some point in their young lives or who would turn away the opportunity.

It still amazes me how face painting never gets old and how endless the possibilities are for face painting designs. From butterflies, rock divas, peacocks, farm friends, leopards, flags, cats and dogs,  you can paint anything that comes to mind.

Check out some happy customers showing off theirs!

How to choose the Best Event Planner

May 18, 2010

hippo joy power point presentation

1. Budget. Cost -Effective. Many people think that by doing things themselves, they will save a lot of the expenses on their nest event. Truth of the matter is, hiring an event planner is better in the long run if you value your time. Event planners also have special discounts at venues, know places to go and get the best stuff and will be most cost-effective in the long run.

2. Creativity. Not all event planners are creative. And by creative I mean: budget wise but also that have ideas that will wow your guests at your next event. On the first interview, think… Are you in sync with their ideas? Do they listen to what you have to say. All this is important.

2. An Eye into Detail and organization. An event planner should see the things that you don’t or don’t have time to be watching. Their eye in to detail, organization skills and leadership are all factors that must be taken into consideration when hiring your event planner.

Princess Anabelle

May 10, 2010

Princess Anabelle visited Flora Ridge Elementary in Kissimee for their Spring Festival as a special guest. She felt very special surrounded by so many wonderful kids. These siblings in particular made her feel very special. I was nearby so I overheard their conversation, Ooooops, nosy me! It went something like this:

Siblings: Yes, she is! Excuse me, didn’t I meet you at Disney? Aren’t you the Beauty in the Beauty and the Beast?

Anabelle: No, I’m not, but I know her very well…. She is my cousin and our kingdoms are close by. Did you hear what happened to her?  She met a Best and fell madly in love with him…I was so worried for her you know….

Oldest sibling: Don’t worry, there is nothing to worry about, the Beast turned out to be a Prince and they married and live happily ever after.

Anabelle: It is a good thing you tell me this…I left my kingdom some years ago and came to America, I now live in a beautiful Cottage surrounded by trees and flowers, lots and lots of flowers….

They talked and talked and asked alll sort of interesting questions like:

What has happened to your kingdom since you left?

Do you have Dragons in your kingdom?

Does Belle write to you?

The smallest of the three asked to take a picture with Anabelle, here it is…
